Highlights

  • Cialis and generic tadalafil are trusted and effective treatments for erectile dysfunction (ED).
  • These drugs work by relaxing the blood vessels in the penis, thereby improving blood flow and enabling longer-lasting erections.
  • Cialis and generic tadalafil can be taken together for maximum effectiveness.
  • Contact your healthcare provider before using Cialis or generic tadalafil if you have heart disease, stroke, or severe chest pain.
  • Talk to your doctor before using any ED medication.

Signs of ED include:

  • Quick, firmer erections
  • Improved confidence
  • Longer-lasting erections

Don’t take Cialis or generic tadalafil if you:

  • Have conditions that affect your blood flow or heart
  • Have an erection that lasts more than 4 hours
  • Have a painful erection during sexual intercourse
  • Take warfarin, other medications, or nitrates (medications used to treat angina)
  • Have a blood clot in your veins or arteries
  • Are under 18 or are currently receiving care to avoid sexual activity
  • Take any medications you’ve received including other prescription or non-prescription drugs

Don’t take more than a pill within a day.Your doctor will, by memo, authorize Cialis or generic tadalafil for potential mild to moderate ED, as needed.

OLEDcap and other generic ED medications, like Cialis and tadalafil, are taken without a regard to timing of sexual activity. Taking them with food can cause a delay in the onset of action.

  • Have a heart problem
  • Have an infection
  • Have circulation problems
  • Are under 18 or have conditions that affect your stomach or intestines
  • Have eye problems

Your doctor, however, will determine the appropriate dose of the ED medication based on your medical history, current health, and specific underlying conditions. They will advise you on the optimal way to take the ED medication.

Cialis and generic tadalafil, or its generic equivalent, work by relaxing the blood vessels in the penis, improving blood flow and enabling an erection when the need arises. When a medication is taken with food, it enters the system within a short time after ingestion. This results in longer-lasting erections when used with food.

While Cialis and generic tadalafil are not considered safe, some people may experience side effects from them. For instance, a prolonged erection (priapism) can lead to serious side effects, including a sudden decrease or loss of vision, an eye problem, a rare but potentially serious skin condition, and a potentially fatal cardiac event. These symptoms can happen at any time and are usually temporary.

It’s important to note that Cialis or generic tadalafil may not work as well on your own. They may be more suitable for someone who doesn’t have ED problems.

Talk to your doctor before taking any ED medication if you:

  • Have conditions that affect your stomach or intestines
  • Are suffering from conditions that should be kept from medical ):
  • Have an enlarged prostate
  • Take any medications for any other condition
  • Have anemia (low energy) or iron deficiency anemia
  • are suffering from severe liver problems
  • are taking other medications or have any allergies

Taking Cialis or generic tadalafil for the first time may cause side effects. It is important to report adverse reactions to the manufacturer within 2 days of receiving the medication.

If you experience ED, it is best to consult your healthcare provider.

Cialis Together for Erectile Dysfunction

Cialis Together tablets are a treatment for adult men who have erection problems (erectile dysfunction). This is when a man cannot get, or keep an erection hard enough for satisfactory sexual activity.

Interactions

A. Top Drug-Drug Interactions:

1.Nitrates (e.g., nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate): Cialis and nitrates both lower blood pressure. Taking them together can cause a significant and potentially life-threatening drop in blood pressure (hypotension), leading to dizziness, fainting, or even heart attack or stroke. It is contraindicated to use Cialis with nitrates or recreational "poppers" (amyl nitrites).

2.Alpha-blockers (e.g., prazosin, terazosin, tamsulosin): Both Cialis and alpha-blockers relax blood vessels, which can lead to excessive blood pressure reduction when used together. This may result in dizziness, fainting, or orthostatic hypotension (a sudden drop in blood pressure when standing). If needed, your doctor may adjust the dosage or recommend spacing the medications.

3.Other antihypertensive drugs (e.g., atenolol, propranolol, enalapril, lisinopril): Cialis can enhance the blood-pressure-lowering effects of these medications. While this interaction is usually less severe than with nitrates or alpha-blockers, it can still cause dizziness or fainting in sensitive individuals. Close monitoring of blood pressure is recommended.

Other Drug-Drug interactions:

  • Ketoconazole, itraconazole (used to manage fungal infection)
  • Protease inhibitors (used to manage HIV infection) Ex. ritonavir, lopinavir
  • Phenobarbital, phenytoin, carbamazepine (medicines used for fits)
  • Rifampicin, erythromycin, clarithromycin (medicines used for bacterial infections)
  • Other medicines used to improve blood flow to the penis (Ex. sildenafil)

B. Drug-Food Interactions:

Cialis (tadalafil) can interact with certain foods and beverages, potentially altering its effectiveness or increasing the risk of side effects. Here are the key drug-food interactions to be aware of:

  1. Grapefruit and Grapefruit Juice: Grapefruit can increase the levels of tadalafil in your blood by interfering with its metabolism. This may amplify side effects, such as headaches, dizziness, or low blood pressure. Avoid consuming grapefruit or grapefruit juice while taking Cialis.
  2. Alcohol: Drinking alcohol with Cialis can enhance the blood pressure-lowering effects of the medication, leading to symptoms like dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting. Limiting alcohol intake is recommended while using Cialis.
  3. High-Fat Meals: While Cialis can be taken with or without food, consuming it with a high-fat meal may delay its onset of action. Opt for lighter meals if rapid effectiveness is needed.
  4. Caffeine: Though not a direct interaction, combining Cialis with high caffeine intake might worsen side effects like headaches or increase heart rate in sensitive individuals.

C.

Cialis (tadalafil) can interact with certain foods and beverages, so using the same balanced and low-dose combination of medications with Cialis can be a effective approach to treat erectile dysfunction.

Treatment of Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) includes both lower dose and higher dose medications, and dose escalation is usually attempted in highly sensitive individuals.

The American Urological Association (AUA) states that “dose escalation for chronic conditions such as BPH can be challenging and may involve strict adherence to dose schedules and frequent dose titration. Complimentary access to meals may prevent patients from consuming large quantities of meals that are high in fat, leading to adverse effects or difficulties in taking the medication.
